About Us
The Orthopaedic Society of Uganda (OSU) is a professional organization that aims to improve the quality of orthopaedic care in Uganda. It is the embodiment of all practicing Orthopaedic Surgeons within Uganda. Our mission is to popularize the Science and Art of Orthopaedic Surgery in order to avail services to all parts of the Country. Our vision is to be the leading organization in Uganda that advances the practice of orthopaedic surgery.
Our Story
The Orthopaedic Society of Uganda was founded in 2006 with the aim of improving the quality of orthopaedic care in Uganda. Since then, the society has grown to become a leading organization in the field of orthopaedics, providing education, training, and support to orthopaedic surgeons across the country. With a focus on innovation and collaboration, the society continues to make significant contributions to the field of orthopaedics in Uganda.
Mission
To popularize the Science and art of Orthopaedic Surgery in order to avail services to all parts of the country.
Dedicated to advancing orthopaedic care, promoting research, and enhancing education in Uganda.
Our Objectives

To encourage members of the society to get continuing education through workshops, conferences and short courses locally and internationally.

To encourage research and publications in Internationally recognized journals.

To hold regular meetings among its members in order to discuss scientific, ethical and development issues.

To set up collaborations and partnerships with the government and other relevant institutions in order to establish policies that will promote professional orthopaedic surgery in Uganda.

To promote discipline and set standards for Orthopaedic practice among members of the society.

To engage in any other activity that will lead towards the promotion and the art of practice of Orthopaedic Surgery in the country.

Our Staff.
Meet Angela Faith Nyawere, Administrator of the Orthopaedic Society of Uganda.
Angela serves as the administrative backbone of the Society, coordinating its day-to-day operations and supporting the implementation of programs that advance orthopaedic education, research, and professional development across Uganda.
With a strong commitment to excellence, organization, and continuous learning, she works closely with the Executive Committee, members, partners, and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of conferences, training courses, surgical camps, and other Society initiatives.
Passionate about creating efficient systems and meaningful impact, Angela believes that behind every successful organization is a dedication to service, collaboration, and attention to detail. Through her work, she helps foster a vibrant professional community committed to improving musculoskeletal healthcare in Uganda.
